We just love to label everything. Nowadays, we basically have tier-lists of everything. However, this can also easily lead to biases that often lead to blind faith to society’s standards. In the real world, this is bad, but in the fantasy world… It can often be disastrous. Well, the following are rather mellow even though the main characters have bad experiences due to having trash skills (but not really).
Fun Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord (JP)
Having talent for production magic maybe good for a commoner, but for nobles, it is a disgrace. Van grew up as a child prodigy, yet he fell out of his family’s favor when his aptitude was found out. He was sent to the frontier to look after a small village; however, contrary to to popular belief, production magic is overpowered to a reincarnator like him. His servants and subjects may worry, but enemies and monsters aren’t really that much of a threat when Van is around.

The King of Cave Will Live a Paradise Life (JP)
Born into royalty, the 17th prince Heal was expected to have a powerful crest like any other royal. However, what he got was a nonsensical “Cave King” crest which basically did nothing. He was an embarrassment, so he was sent to a remote island to develop it, but truthfully, it was really an exile. Upon his arrival in the island, his crest finally showed its worth during a short spelunking; and from there starts the development of his territory where all the downtrodden and refugees from all races will find their new home.

The abrupt arrival of power users all over the world disrupted the fragile balance among many countries. This led to a decade-long war that shaved off 20% of the world’s population, and ultimately culminated in an international treaty that was agreed upon by the nine most powerful users. Serizawa Atsushi was born after the war, and like many of his peers, grew up to the tale of war heroes. He also wanted to be a hero, yet reality was cruel because he awakened the trash talent,”Thermal Operator”. Not to be easily discourage, he had a feeling that his talent is way more than just a microwave oven substitute.

Skill Lender (JP)
Blessed with the unique skill of being able to lend his own learned skills to other people, Marz endeavored to contribute to his party. He spent most of his time reading and researching just to gain a new skill, but his party members were just freeloading off of him. He still remained in the party despite being treated like trash and paid in pennies, yet when the crew decided to sacrifice him to the boss room, he decided that he’s had enough. He took back the loaned skills from them, and due to the compounded interest, he also managed to take their own prized skills. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that he now far outranked many in terms of power. In his journey with the system, he will save many downtrodden and lead them to carve their own spot in the unforgiving world.

The Trash-Tier Skill That Got Me Into a Top-Tier Party (JP)
Everyone receives the greatest gamble of their lives during their coming of age. It is when they awaken the skills that will determine their future path. Naturally, no one wishes for trash skills, but when the crap-tier mapping skill found its way to Note, he must face reality. What’s even worse is that people are usually granted three skills at most, yet his own skill took up three of his skill slots. However, he still can’t give up on his dream of becoming a top-ranked adventurer, so just maybe… With trusted comrades and the right circumstances, he can finally feel proud of having such a skill

Trash Skill Gacha (JP)
Crest did not have a decent childhood. Born as the fifth child of the duke, he became the target of his family’s scorn because his birth caused his mother’s death. His treatment even got worse after he awakened his gacha ability which nobody can make heads or tails of. Soon, his father kicked him out and sent him to the lower world which was basically a death sentence; but as it turns out, his skill shines when there are monsters around. Back at the Upper World, there was a prophecy about an upcoming disaster, and Crest’s ability is one of the three important skills that will ensure the kingdom’s future survival
